Lisbon exudes a strong historical and cultural vibe, and it is well-known around the world for its charming architecture. However, more recently, Lisbon has also been establishing a reputation as a prime location for digital entrepreneurs. Led by Carlos Moedas, who was elected as mayor in October 2021, the city keeps on growing. The areas on which mayor Moedas is primarily focused include tourism redevelopment, energetic transition, sustainable mobility and innovations. Prior to becoming mayor of Lisbon, Moedas served as European Commissioner for Research, Science, and Innovation under President Jean-Claude Juncker from 2014 to 2019. Between 2011 and 2014, he was Secretary of State in Portugal's XIX Constitutional Government. To fulfill his vision for the Portuguese capital, mayor Moedas is counting on every Lisbon resident. He is committed to strengthening the city’s strong inclusive and accepting image.
