Bio:

Martin Dale is a journalist for Variety, audiovisual producer and lecturer in Communication Sciences at the University of Minho.

For the American magazine Variety, he has written more than 600 articles on Portugal, Spain, France, Morocco, Brazil and Central America.

He has collaborated with the Portuguese Ministry of Culture and served as an expert for the European Commission within the Horizon 2020 programme. He was the official translator for the nomination of the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus do Monte as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and directed the official documentary supporting the nomination.

He was co-founder of the Associação Portuguesa de Argumentistas e Dramaturgos (APAD) and currently serves as president of its general assembly.

Between 1997 and 2000, he worked as an adviser to the president of the Portuguese Institute of Cinema, Audiovisual and Multimedia. Between 2000 and 2001, he represented APAD in the Audiovisual Task Force created by Minister Guilherme de Oliveira Martins.

Between 2008 and 2009, he served as rapporteur and wrote two conference reports for the Think Tank on European Film and Film Policy, led by Henning Camre.
