Alberto Fernandez

Bio:

Alberto Fernández is currently the Director of Digital Platforms and Services at RTVE. In his role, he is primarily responsible for leading the company’s digital strategy, as well as overseeing the distribution and digital content of RTVE. He also serves as RTVE’s top representative in matters related to OTT platforms and relationships with third-party platforms.

Until this year, he was the director of RTVE Play, the OTT platform launched by the company in 2021. In this position, he was responsible for the platform’s content, which has won prestigious awards such as the Prix Europa for its first original fiction, This is Not Sweden, which also received the Ondas Award in Spain. Additionally, the platform has established itself as a leader in the AVOD sector and successfully implemented a mandatory registration strategy, reaching 10 million registered users.

Fernández has been involved with RTVE’s digital departments for over 15 years. He was part of the founding team of the RTVE Lab and has coordinated the Corporation’s transmedia and social media strategy since 2014, when he was appointed Director of Digital Content, becoming RTVE’s youngest executive. In 2017, he was in charge of creating and developing the youth channel Playz, which has won two Ondas Awards. Since 2023, he has been a member of the EBU’s Digital Committee, where he has focused on coordinating content and strategies among public broadcasters’ platforms.
